Identifying Atypical Opportunities using PharmSource Lead Sheet

Contract service providers that specialize in “non-standard” dose forms can use the PharmSource Lead Sheet’s detailed dosage form options to zero-in on opportunities appropriate to their capabilities. The system offers over 30 different dosage form categories, enabling you to shine the spotlight exactly where it suits your needs.

Here’s an example of just four of the 30+ dosage form categories. In the combined months of June and July 2015, the PharmSource Lead Sheet reported a total of 150 leads for these highly specialized categories alone:

  • Inhaled products: meter-dose inhalers; proprietary devices
  • Capsules: soft gelatin
  • Tablets: fast dissolve
  • Patches

The Lead Sheet also includes information on the development phase and status of each product, along with ancillary intelligence and company contacts. This detail can be downloaded into Excel or viewed in a reader-friendly format.

As a PharmSource Lead Sheet client, you can do targeted searches like this in a few simple steps:

  1. From the Search section, select Search for Leads from the Search Type menu.
  2. Select an appropriate date range, then click on the Dosage Forms tab and check off the targeted option(s) you need.
    • To export results into an Excel .csv file, select Export Leads at the bottom of the page.
    • To view results in reader-friendly format, select Browser Results at the bottom of the page.

The recently introduced map feature also is available at the bottom of the page. This geographically pinpoints the headquarters of those companies shown in search results.

In addition to a description of the drug candidate itself, search results also show important commercial information in the Category column, distinguishing products in clinical development from product alliances or acquisitions, for example. The Product Description column provides information on the current clinical status of a drug, or the alliance partner or acquirer, and status. This helps you discriminate between those products that are being developed in-house as opposed to drugs that are to be out-licensed or acquired.

According to our sister database, PHARMSOURCE STRATEGIC ADVANTAGE, there are 14 dedicated CMOs with inhalation capability and a further 12 that can manufacture Transdermal patches. For niche companies such as these, the PharmSource Lead Sheet can be invaluable in identifying very well-targeted prospects.
